My ad rep is pushing me to go for four color. I know what you say about avoiding branding ads but I am really concerned about looking cheap with a lot of text and little or no color. What do you think? Should I spend the money?

The aesthetics of the salon ad are always less of a priority than the meat. Have you refined your offer? Do you have an offer at all? What's your headline? How are you going to get people to pick up the phone, now?

What is going to generate LEADS?

Will color make the ad stand out among the competition... or are they all in color, with lots of pretty pictures and little copy? If so, maybe black and white with lots of copy will make yours look different from everybody else's.

The point is this: it's not about MATCHING what everybody else is doing, its about looking DIFFERENT.

Without more information it's difficult to offer any more advice to you.

Regards, Greg

That's so true.
For us personally, we went with colour - but we didnt put the token beautiful woman photo in the ad (like everyone else does).
We used the principles that Greg teaches, and we have had so many people say that they chose us because we stood out and looked different to all the other ads.
