Hi Everyone Smile
As the receptionist of Worldwide Salon Marketing, you have to be on your toes at all times! I get phone calls that are easy to deal with, and then there are some where i struggle. However, if the company didnt have a Receptionist it would make things a whole lot harder! It is exactly the same for you. A receptionist is a vital part of any company, so why cant you have one? We can sell, work, interact with customers, and when new customers come into your salon, they can put a face to the voice.
We can definitely help your business to grow.
Hope thats helpful!

I would love a full time receptionist to have one person ensuring check-in and exit are done properly. However I can ill afford this as the team have enough slack time?

cheers Tracey

Hi Tracey,

The recptionist is the single most important position in the salon. They will pay for themselves by grabbing that one missed phone call a day and turning it into a paying client. "One phone call"....I mean why wouldn't you do it!! How nice would it be to have someone "meet and greet" all clients, and welcome them into you salon. This is the first impression of your business to the client. Lots of our Testimonial from clients actually say, quote: "from the momment I walked in the door..........". We attribute this to our happy and professional receptionists.

From day one, seven years ago, when we had one employee.... my wife Sonia . We always had a receptionst. We now have 26 full time staff. You can't grow a business if you don't commit to this.

All your therapists and stylist will also love that they can do thier work and concentrate on the customer. Instead of wasting there time doing work they're not employed to do and they'll be upselling, retailing, consulting and making you more money, because they have the time too........sacrifice a little profit now to gain so much in the future!

I disagree with Paula. I have 4 x Full Time receptionists at Blush - Three of which have no experience in the industry. You train them up very quickly, every female has been to a hair & beauty salon and its not rocket science.(as Greg would Say) You still need to train....train...train, support, nurture this person as much as any other staff member. Do that and they'll repay you 100 times over. (Poor staff is poor management...realise this and you'll change your business forever)

Take it from my personal experience that beauty therapists and hair stylists are not great receptionists (even ones that have been in the industry for years)....they don't have the skill set required to multitask, type, answer the phone, operate software, mail mergere etc. etc. etc. Any young receptionist will be able to do all these tasks quite easily.

Tracey...do yourself and your business a favour and put out your employment report today, advertise the position....wish for your perfect employee and get that receptionist ....the FACE of your business that you richly deserve.

Good Luck!!

i have two full time receptionists. They run the whole salon, meet, greet, serve, do our books, take calls, screen calls, stock towels, make and serve coffee, without them, a business cannot run successfully.
they are worth their weight in gold.

I do understand the importance of having a receptionist & know we need to add one in our small salon. Does anyone have a formula for paying the receptionist based on new clients, product sales, etc.? We really can't afford another salary right now but thought if there was an incentive program they would be motivated to grow the business. Any ideas?
